Instructional Designer Edifecs, Bellevue, WA (2003) Wrote training materials, including slide presentations and course plans for system administrators and users of software applications that enable B2B communities. Course content included topics in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), XML, and HIPAA.

Marketing Writer  WRQ, Inc., Seattle (2003)  Wrote and edited marketing collateral for terminal emulation products. Documents included white papers, case studies, web content, ad copy, and articles for newsletters and journals.

Instructional Designer  WRQ, Inc., Seattle (2001-2003) Wrote training for software tools that are used by programmers to integrate mainframe computer systems with personal computers and the Web. One range of software emulates mainframe terminals on personal computers, another provides enterprise application integration (EAI). Nonprofit Director  Chisna Institute, Seattle (1999-2003)  Conducted market research, planned budgets, pursued funding, and structured corporate activity to provide information services through a nonprofit corporation (www.chisna.org) to other nonprofit organizations. Developed Web content, including HTML and graphics, and an online relational database in Access to manage volunteer and client information. Wrote an online tutorial to train volunteers in editing technical documents.

Technical Writer  eCharge Corporation, Seattle (2000)  Researched and wrote user guides, installation guides, and a style guide for a provider of online payment systems. One payment system routes billing information from Web pages to the customer’s phone bill. Another creates an online debit account. Audience included engineers and IT staff within the company, and merchants who use the services. Topics included Oracle, Unix, and Solaris systems, server configuration, telecommunications, networking, encryption, and database design. Composed documents in FrameMaker and Word, distributed in PDF and HTML formats. Developed a FrameMaker template, established procedures for document production.

English Teacher  British Council, Amman (1998-1999) and Jakarta (1989)  Taught writing, organizational skills, and intensive grammar to foreign students preparing for graduate study in English-speaking countries.
